Eeeww. Creepy. Few questions:

- What are your LC_ALL and LANG environment variables set to?
- What Perl are you using?
- On which platform?
- Does the problem persist with latest Petal 1.10_09 and MKDoc::XML 0.61?

You might want to have a play with the MKDoc::XML::Decode module and see
if you can reproduce the error at this level.
