Adam,
Gwilym selwood at the university of leeds has approached
me about web hosting for the requirement he has for
content management using MakeDoc.
He has supplied me with the technical requirements
given at
http://lists.webarch.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/mkdoc-admin
Details of our web hosting facility can be found at
http://www.leeds.ac.uk/iss/bsols/webhosting/
The unix hosting is based on solaris 8.
Could you respond to my email address directly with
the following questions for me/ supply the information requested.
1.
Can we avoid needing three domain names?
The costing structure for our web hosting is based
upon charges per virtual web server- your product seems
to require three virtual servers
2.
Has it been tested under solaris 8?
3.
How much technical knowledge/ unix knowledge/
root intervention is needed to maintain the product
4.
Details of the installation requirements and process
for the production version.
5. Why might MySQL's defaults be insufficient? At
what hit rate does this become appropriate?
6. Is this a suitable application for a shared hosting
server or would you recommend a dedicated server?
7. What directives does the include httpd.conf have?
Is this the same for the production version?
Brian.
