[Petal] [WEIRD] Strange stuff with HTML Entities

Hi,

Does anyone have a clue what's causing the following to happen? Since 
Petal-1.05, petal outputs html entities like   something like this:

I figure it has something to do with the change in html entites decoding 
in this release but I don't really understand why it would produce weird 
characters like this. The template is just a standard ASCII file with a 
correctly set DOCTYPE etc etc - i'm really lost on this one, can anyone 
help?
