In Java I think your best bet is called XMLC [1][2]. It seems to be less
flexible than Petal, but then again Java is less flexible than Perl so
it shouldn't be a big deal :-)
As for PHP, I think it's actually a step BACKWARDS in terms of
programming features... it really is behind in terms of *everything* and
I do not wish to spend any more time than I've done in the past on it :)
As for a complete Java-TAL clone... mhhh, that sounds fun! For we have
worked together I know that you're a great programmer, so I think that
you should really go for it :)
