The Advocacy Project provides an independent advocacy for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health issues. This service is provided in the East End of Glasgow, Rutherglen, and Cambuslang, and, for people with mental health issues, across South Lanarkshire. In addition, the Project is pleased to have launched a Glasgow City-wide advocacy service for people aged 65 and over. Advocacy is also available to patients with a physical disability within the Southern General Hospital.

The Project is based on the principles that any person has the right to:

Be consulted about their needs 
Be involved in decisions which affect their lives 
Be treated in a dignified manner and valued as equals 
Avoid being segregated from the rest of the community in work, education, recreation or where they live. 
The Advocacy Project aims to work with people to encourage them to:

Take greater control of the decisions which affect their lives 
Express their needs and opinions 
Access resources and information appropriate to them 

Main activities:

Independent professional advocacy, citizen advocacy and support for self/collective advocacy groups.  Training and consultancy around independent advocacy is also available.
