Chris,

No, don't change it. I have applied a workaround to JSpider and the 
indexer is now working on FC4 :-)

For the time being the spider does not accept any alternative 
encoding; there seems to be a problem with gzip decompression.

I'll do some more testing and file a bug report. We may be able to 
accept deflate encoding.
